IC 6th Grade Projects
Hero Project
All 6th grade students created a "Virtual Museum" using PowerPoint. First they researched a hero by gathering specific information about this individuals' life, family, career, accomplishments, character traits, obstacles, and how society honors this hero. Reference sources were provided by CITE along with the IC Library Wikispace (www.ic-library.wikispaces.com) and the Power Library. Students then built 3-dimensional rooms where they hung images of their hero on the walls and linked the pictures to their audio narration of the research. A proper title slide with an "attention getter" or "hero slogan" and a MLA works cited slide using Easybib were also added. Students added a variety of embellishments before presenting their Virtual Museum project to their classmates.

Egypt ProjectAll 6th grade students researched Egypt and created a tri-fold travel brochure using Microsoft Publisher. They created text boxes for their research, used WordArt for panel headings and title panel, inserted digital images from the Internet, created a properly MLA formated Works Cited textbox, and embellished their brochure with hieroglyphics or cartouches.

All 6th graders selected an animal to research, focusing on the animals' means of locomotion. A slide was created using PowerPoint where each student recorded their locomotion research using the following: wordart; text boxes; fancy fonts, sizes & colors; fancy borders with shape effects such as glow and shadow; images either scanned, hand-rendered, or from the Internet; customized bullets; and a recorded narration of their research. The final product is a laminated class Animal Locomotion Book and CD.
